RANK INSIGNIA

The rank insignia worn in Koevoet from 1979 to about 1985 were the SA Police rank insignia, although NCO’s in Koevoet seldom wore any rank insignia in the veldt on their camouflage uniform. Commissioned officers in the fighting teams however usually wore their camouflage rank insignia on camouflage shirts, but not on T-shirts. Rank badges worn initially were SAP rank insignia and these changed to SWAPOL rank insignia from late 1985 onwards. Essentially they were the same but with minor differences.
