Wore epaulettes
Lieutenant – Two stars on epaulettes on the shoulders.
Captain – Three stars on shoulders.
Major – One castle on each shoulder.
Lieutenant Colonel – One castle and one star on each shoulder.
Colonel – One castle and two stars on each shoulder.
Brigadier – One castle above three stars in a triangle on each shoulder.
Major General – One castle and crossed baton and scimitar on each shoulder. This was the highest rank officer in the Koevoet Unit.
The Owambo trackers who were originally appointed as special constables and wore SWAPOL camoe were in the beginning required to wear two dark blue slip-ons with the letters SAP embroided in gold on them. Although this slip-ons were kept in the stores it was very seldom worn in Owamboland, more in Windhoek, etc.
